The Grand Pyrenean A ride designed to bring you the best of riding in the mountains, the Grand Pyrenean takes you over many of the most famous Tour de France cols (Tourmalet, Aspin, Peyresourde, Aubisque & others). The relatively compact route, which concentrates itself around the high mountains in the centre of the range, also gives us the time to explore some lesser known cols and 'cul-de-sac' climbs which are not logistically practical on a Coast-to-Coast trip.
Atop the Aubisque With full support throughout and vehicle back-up on all riding days other than the midweek ‘rest day’, you can relax into your riding without the usual concerns over where to pack everything, which layers to take out with you and where to stash all your food and drink. All of those variables can be covered from the support vehicles, so you keep your ‘race weight’ down and your speed on the climbs, up! Some elements of the Grand Pyrenean are optional (e.g. the final climb of some days), so you can shape the ride to fit with how you’re feeling on several days of the week.
Carcassonne at night
For the best travel logistics and to maximise your enjoyment of the ride, flights into Carcassonne (or a.m. to Toulouse) work best. On the homeward leg, flying from Pau (or p.m. from Toulouse) means you won't be rushed. For Route and Ride Profile information, click here. For 2012 our Grand Pyrenean dates and prices will be:
£889 per person This price includes airport pick-up and drop-off, 7 nights accommodation, 7 breakfasts, 6 evening meals and on-the-road back-up from our support vehicle(s).
