Classic Alps Tour Whilst our company name comes from our cycling roots in the Pyrenees, we appreciate that there are other wonderful places to ride, too. If great climbs, great scenery & a healthy dose of cycling history are 'your thing', then you'll probably love the Alpine challenge of our Classic Alps Tour. Starting outside of Geneva on the shores of Lac Leman, we've created a superb 5½-day route which crests many of the most iconic & challenging Alpine climbs. If the likes of Galibier, Alpe d'Huez, Croix de Fer, Madeleine, Izoard and the majestic Mont Ventoux might be on your cycling 'to-do list', then this could be the trip for you.
The Galibier (pictured in Winter) is one of the great 'cycling shrines' of the Alps We'll meet you at Geneva airport at the start of the trip & provide accommodation, meals and on-the-road back-up as you ride a succession of stunning point-to-point day-rides: Day 1 takes us past Morzine to the small town of Cluses. Day 2 sees us summit the Cols of Colombiere, Aravis, Forclaz & Madeleine Day 3 brings the challenges of the Col de Croix de Fer & the iconic Alpe d'Huez Day 4 ascends the Col de Lauteret, the mighty Col de Galibier & the stunningly beautiful Col d' Izoard Day 5 brings some relief from the heaviest climbs, riding the hills along the shores of Lac de Serre-Poncon to bring us within range for... Day 6 and our end-of-trip summit finish atop the legendary Mont Ventoux. After a memorable descent from Mont Ventoux and a celebratory final dinner together, you can transfer you to any of Avignon, Montpellier, Carcassonne or Toulouse airports for homeward flights. (Or perhaps you'd like to create the cycling 'trip of a lifetime' by continuing on to the Pyrenees with us to ride the great cols there too?) For full Route & Ride Profile information, click here. This is not a beginners' route, tackling as it does, several days where the ride exceeeds 150km & the elevation gain exceeds 3000m. Riders should ensure that they make adequate preparation in advance to achieve the fitness levels which will be required to complete the course successfully Classic Alps Tour – dates and prices £1125 per person and includes: 6 nights shared-room accommodation in 2-star hotels, 6 breakfasts, 5 evening meals (our final celebratory 'gala dinner' is a la carte & on this occasion riders pay their own bill), 6 days on-the-road rider support & route mapping.
